Shakey Zimmerman & Claude Hopper
Saturday, November 12 at 8 pm we are pleased to bring you Shakey Zimmerman & Claude Hopper on stage in "Forever Young: A Neil Young Birthday Celebration Concert".
Shakey Zimmerman brings a fresh, authentic, true-to-form sound to venues throughout California. The acoustic/electric band is led by Bay Area musician Pat Nevins on guitar, vocals, and harmonica.
Shakey Zimmerman is locked and loaded with a dizzying array of tunes that span the decades, and Nevins embraces both the softer, sensitive side of Dylan and Young, as well as the power-packed electric driven rock and roll side. Nevins played for six years as a member of Ghosts of Electricity, solidifying his knack for delivering intense Bob Dylan style vocals.He has shared the stage and opened for many famous names, including Bob Weir, David Nelson, New Riders of The Purple Sage, The Radiators, Commander Cody, Merle Saunders, Koko Taylor, Doctor John, and Lonnie Brooks. He is also known as the founding member of Workingman's Ed, popular with Northern California deadheads. Joining Nevins isguitar slinger Jody Salino, a finger-picking protege of Jorma Kaukonen, as well as Dave Van Ronk,Stephan Grossman, John Renbourn, and Ian Buchannan, all students of Reverend Gary Davis.
Claude Hopper first appeared on the Santa Barbara music scene inThe Year 2000at the infamousOllie Festie, a concert event held atThe Farmin Montecito that featured a score of fine bands and singers, and swang until the wee hours when the sheriff came trapezeing up the gravel drive, through the darkness, hand on pistol, to shut the party down. "This place sure is hard to find," said the lawman, "you have to wind it down." His parting words, "Sounds good by the way."
Claude Hopper features David Cowan on the guitar and song singing. The Claude Hopper Band line-up features John McInnes on the bass guitar, Andy Webb on lead guitar, Chris Ulep on keyboards, and Chuck Hammel on the drum kit.
Tickets are $15.00 general admission and available online and at the theater box office prior to showtime.
