Bike the Track Benefit for Parks Foundation
On Thursday, July 14 from 5-8 p.m., adults and kids can bring their bikes to Sonoma Raceway for an evening of bicycling, music and fun! In addition to a rare opportunity to bike the track, the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition will host a Bike Rodeo for kids, Wine Country Cyclery will be on-hand to fix any last-minute adjustments, and the popular local band Power Glide will provide great rock-n-roll music!
*This just in!* Doug McConnell, environmental television journalist and host of NBC Bay Area's OpenRoad, will be on hand to wave the green flag and start the festivities!
The bike rodeo, bike clinic and music will all be available 5-6 p.m. and will continue after the track opens to bicycles at 6 p.m. Ambitious cyclists can ride the 2.3 mile loop as many times as they wish during the event, while those who prefer an easier course can ride the flat drag strip.
Advance tickets are $25 for adults and teens 13 and older, $10 for children. At the gate, tickets for teens and adults are $30, children are $10. In addition, food and beverages will be available for sale.
*Bring your own bicycle and helmet. Helmets are required to participate!* Water and bike lock are also recommended.
This event is part of Sonoma County's effort to become the healthiest county in the state by 2020. Funds raised from the event will match a 1-to-1 challenge grant for Helen Putnam Regional Park in Petaluma. County parks in the Sonoma Valley (Maxwell Farms, Larson) and the Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation are also beneficiaries.
