Humpday (2009) Lynn Shelton
For our second season of The Screen at Contemporary we bring you Mumblecore! A movement that came out of the mid noughties US Indi film scene. Think: Woody Allen, John Cassavetes and Richard Linklater made by millennials on a shoe string. This is Independent filmmaking at its very best and your rare chance to see these defining films on the big screen in the UK!
Humpday Two friends Ben and Andrew meet after having not seen each other for 10 years. During a party, they find themselves locked in a "mutual dare" situation engaging to make a gay pornography film, as an "art project" for the Hump!Film fest. The debut film of director Lynn Shelton (your sisters sister) this incredible observation of friendships, rivalries and how we see ourselves is a rare gem of a film.
