However, with the mass hysteria of the modern world we are gradually awakening to the enormity of existence. Total Recall traces this oneiric journey into our consciousness through tense beats and revelatory soundscapes.
Total Recall is the moniker for the veteran production partnership between Dustin Blair and Steve Welborn, who have recently garnered attention for their masterful piercing of the Dubstep sphere. With machine gun bass meeting a power drill, Total Recall bores into the earth's surface before reaching a pocket of hallucinatory calm, which manages to be hollow and ethereal but also satisfying in its ambiguous orchestrations in every one of their original pieces. Drawing inspiration from powerful conspiracies makes Total Recall a relentless passageway through multiple levels of history, humanity and knowledge. It derives extra strength from the fact that the focus is always on allegory, rather than allusion. This means that when Total Recall reference more abstract ideas, the beats stay sincere. Huge summer festivals? Check. Massive sold out shows? Check. Faces melted across the USA? Check. Being one of Chicago biggest Dubslingers for years now? Check. Ruckus has been a busy man this year. As many of you may know, Ruckus started as a drum and bass DJ. In early 2008 the pulsating sounds of dubstep grabbed a hold of him with no turning back since.
Highlights include Ruckus destroying the Red Bull stage at the inaugural North Coast Music Fest in front of thousands of screaming bass heads and playing the first ever sold out Booty Halloween with DJ Dara and Eskmo. He's also shared the stage with a "who's who" of global talent including: Daedlus, The Gaslamp Killer, 12th Planet, Joe Nice, Rastatronics, Ginz, Metaphase, HULK, Mark Instinct, Claw, Nameloc, Richie August, Dara, Borgore, Bombaman, Eliot Lipp and Midnight Conspiracy "to name more than a few".
What's next for this multi talented man? Be on the look out for more insane events with an ever growing crowd of fans. As a new generation of bass monsters arise and come to dominance and Ruckus will be right there at the top, maintaining a "semi-professional" approach while still partying with the best of them.
