Fuzjko Hemming Piano Recital with Cellist Marek Szpakiewicz: 5th Anniversary of Earthquake & Tsunami in Japan
Swedish-Japanese pianist Fuzjko Hemming will be back in Los Angeles for a special concert in memory of the 2011 earthquake & tsunami victims of Japan.

Overcoming severe hearing difficulties, Fuzjko Hemming beat the odds to become a highly-acclaimed concert pianist, sharing her gift for music with the world. At the age of 16, this international classical icon was struck with deafness and remains partially deaf today. In 1999, her documentary broadcast in Japan created a huge sensation, which made her a star with the multi-million selling debut album "La Campanella" in her late 60s. Hemming received the Classical Album of the Year Award at Japan's prestigious Gold Disc Awards, not only once but four time-- an unusual success that has never been achieved by any other artist. In 2013, Catalunya Radio, the largest radio station for classical music in Spain, chose her latest CD as the best CD by listeners' votes.

Hemming has drawn raves from critics and musicians for her style, as well. Gramophone stated that she was "seeming to enter a romantic reverie to find and unfold the music's beauties and intentions." She has been collaborating with such renowned orchestras as the Moscow Philharmonic, Japan Philharmonic and Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra as well as distinguished artists, including violinist Maxim Vengerov and cellist Mischa Maisky.

This charity concert will also feature hailed Polish cellist Marek Szpakiewicz. Celebrated cellist Yo-Yo Ma described Szpakiewicz as an artist "whose energy, motivation, earnestness and generosity of spirit are evident through his work." His solo performance can be heard on several soundtracks, including the film "Hachi: A Dog's Tale" starring Richard Gere.

A portion of the proceeds from this recital will go to 2011 Japan Relief Fund.

Don't miss this one-night only unique opportunity to listen to Hemming's performance in Los Angeles!
