The Manhattan SWAB would like to invite you to cocktails followed by a screening of The Wrong Bin and a discussion with the filmmaker and cast..

In The Wrong Bin, Emmy nominated filmmaker Krishnan Vasudevan exposes the ever-increasing environmental and economical costs New York City incurs when its residents recycle poorly. Since 2002, when the city closed the Fresh Kills landfill and began sending its trash out of state, the city's annual land filling bill has doubled from $600 million to $1.3 billion a year. However. this amount could be drastically decreased, as nearly 36% of the 2 million tons NYC sends to landfills each year could be recycled instead.

All proceed will be going toward the MSWAB's 2012 Composting Grant Program which runs in collaboration with the Office of Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer and Citizen Committee for New York City. Last year, the program rewarded $15,000 worth of grants to 25 organizations wishing to start or expand their neighborhood composting programs.

We are eager to continue supporting composting program. We need your support to keep these important programs running!
