"Jazz! The Women's ViewPoint
The Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium's Annual Women's Viewpoint In Jazz. A panel of distinguished female artists will assemble for discussion followed by performance. Since CBJC's inception in 1999,female artists and audiences have come together to celebrate women's contribution to America's indigenous music jazz. This year's panel will consist of AZIZA Miller,Carla Cook, Lucy Blanco and Mavis "Swan" Pool. The event will be moderated by WHCR'S Host"I Love Jazz" show/Drummer, Dee Ramey. Musical performance by The Mala Waldron Trio. Dance performance by Tendayi Kuumba.
Rosalind Blair, CBJC cofounder, created Jazz! The Women's Viewpoint a core program of the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium. One of the primary goals of this event is to give women an opportunity to participate in the discourse of the music industry's dynamics. Another aim is to give females an opportunity to share experiences. The panel is open to female: musicians, educators, industry executives, media personnel, and wives of jazz artists.
