Go around the world in one sitting with a selection of this year's best indie shorts directed by women from Spain, Israel, South Korea, Japan, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, and the U.S.

From animation to drama, these short films tell the tale of love, loss, death, and hope. Be it quirky or provocative, there's one for every mood and everybody in this program!

TEAMWORK directed by Seo Yun Hong
(11 min, South Korea, 2011)
An ailing grandmother and her granddaughter relive an experience they shared ten years ago at the grandmother's deathbed; their own way to say goodbye.


L TRAIN directed by Anna Musso
(11 min, USA, 2011)
L TRAIN is the story of Sunny, a teenaged African-American girl. Her commute through an inner city Chicago winter reinforces a negativity in her. One day, an encounter with a young woman who is differently-abled forces her to consider replacing her anger with compassion. L TRAIN aspires to be a brief, humble reminder of what we all might miss everyday.


RECIPE FOR LOVE directed by Chauncey Wales

Chance Oliveida is a Brazilian immigrant who owns a green cleaning company. She toils away in her company as she dreams of traveling the world to write her cooking travelogue. Chance secretly keeps a notebook filled with her recipes, food drawings, and musings on life. Juliette Bonet is an entrepreneur who has the accoutrements of the good life: success, money to blow, and beauty. Life is good. However, her love life could be better. Not that she has a lack of male suitors. It's just that she is at an age in which she is questioning what she really wants next in Mr. Right. Then along comes Chance who forces her to reconsider her options. Their paths cross when one of Chance's workers does not show up for work. What ensues is a tale of self discovery, passion, and their love of food.


SUNNY BOY directed by Jane Gull

Danny and his overprotective father live in a world of darkness due to his rare skin condition. He longs to be a regular teenager playing football out in the sun. When Danny receives some news about his medical condition he decides to stand up to his dad and take control of his own life.


CHASE directed by Jacqueline Reyno and Rachel Kopilow
(10 min, USA, 2011)
Inspired by true events, Chase is a poignant story of friendship and hardship, told through the eyes of a young woman named Maul. The film follows Maul and her best friend Chase in two storylines at different times. In one, they are carefree, happy-go-lucky, and healthy. In the other, Chase is battling a brain tumor. The two collide at the end, forcing Maul to navigate their friendship in an unexpected way.


BELLY directed by Julia Pott
(7 min, United Kingdom, 2011)
Oscar is coming of age, against his better judgment. In doing so he must experience the necessary evil of leaving something behind, but he can still feel it in the pit of his stomach.


BEING BRADFORD DILLMAN directed by Emma Buch
(10 min, United Kingdom, 2011)
A tale of a mother and daughter relationship, shadowed by alcohol, loneliness and a dislike of boys.


THE COMPANY OF THIEVES directed by Shilpa Sunthankar
(17 min, USA, 2011)
A lone thief, Dex, seeks vengeance after he is left for dead in the woods by his partner; so he makes a deal with the Devil and goes on a mission to kill his partner and get his loot back.
