Bemidji Symphony Orchestra - "American Kids"
The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents the concert, "American Kids," Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Bemidji High School Auditorium. Doors open for seating at 2:30 PM.
Featured on the program is guest artist Dr. Nicholas Hardie playing Robert Schumann's Cello Concerto in A Minor. As a special treat, a number of talented area strings students will join the BSO on stage in the performance of Gustav Holst's "St. Paul's Suite." Also on the program is the "Academic Festival Overture" by Johannes Brahms. The concert is under the direction of Dr. Beverly Everett.
Hardie, a resident of Connecticut, holds a Doctorate in Cello Performance from Boston University and a Masters in Music from Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins. He is a founding member of the Stratus Chamber Players. Immediately following the performance, Hardie and Everett will talk briefly about the music and take audience questions.
Tickets are available at the door or in advance at Lueken's North, Brigid's Cross, and online at brownpapertickets.com. Students grades K through 12 are admitted free.
This activity is funded in part by a grant from Target and from Region 2 Arts Council through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature and the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund passed by Minnesota voters on November 4, 2008.
