Contemporary taiko group, On Ensemble, collaborates with master musicians from Japan in an intimate presentation of new and traditional music on Sunday, March 11, 2012.

Meet-the-performers Lunch - 12 noon
Prior to the performance, a unique meet-the-artists lunch features all-vegetarian fare from local growers and a selection of tsugaru shamisen music performed by top-ranked, Sawada Seijyuuro. The Japanese meal features fresh tofu from Meiji Tofu and local vegetables. The meal is sourced, prepared, and presented with the ambitious goal of producing no trash. Bring your plate and cup!.. we'll wash it after the meal!
Concert- 2:00 pm
On Ensemble is joined by twelve (!) guest artists in an intimate, all-acoustic setting. The concert showcases large-ensemble nagauta (the music of Kabuki with shamisen and singing), alongside On Ensemble's newest music. Commemorating the 1-year anniversary of the Japan earthquake, the performance will debut the new piece for taiko and oboe, "9.0".
