Chicago-born New Orleans-based pianist, singer, and songwriter Stephanie Nilles is a pint-sized jazz/punk powerhouse consistently on the move... Equally comfortable belting out traditional jazz numbers with a New Orleans brass band at her back and performing solo sandwiched between punk and thrash bands, her uniquely-crafted self-produced albums and energetic live performances have earned her such colorful descriptions as "A stiff cocktail of Ma Rainey and Enrico Caruso," "Ella Fitzgerald on speed beating the shit out of Regina Spektor," "Tom Waits on helium," and "the granddaughter of Mose Allison and sister of Ani Difranco."
