Two of the cities most engaging singer songwriters, Kristen Ford and Abbie Barrett, join forces to celebrate the release of their latest studio efforts. Also on the bill is the new rock/americana band Coyote Kolb.
Kristen Ford Band heralds the release of their third studio album "The Grindstone" and homecoming show after a whirl wind, 60 date 35 state national tour. This frontlady of a 6 piece band "effortlessly glides between rock, pop and roots" wielding her telecaster and belting out hooks on such stages as Austin's Saxon Pub, Brooklyn's Spike HIll and Seattle's Triple Door. Her band of cello, violin, dueling guitars, upright bass, drums and 3 part harmonies will leave you dancing, laughing and crying out for more Rock-pop-reggae-indie-soul music.
Abbie Barrett & The Last Date have been featured regularly on WXRV The River's "Homegrown" program, and in American Songwriter and Performing Songwriter magazines. In 2008, the International Acoustic Music Awards gave Barrett runner-up in the category of Best Female Artist. The band draws on a number of influenceseverything from Pink Floyd and Neil Young to Aimee Mannwilling to cross genre lines in order to serve the song at hand. Sudden changes in time signature, well-honed lyrics, and rich, climbing crescendos are highlighted by Barrett's unique voice.
