This festive holiday program for chorus and solo instruments includes works by Johannes Brahms and Stephen Chatman, three settings of O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen, Giovanni Gabrieli, and our Music Director, Michael Conley as well as Conrad Susa's magical Carols and Lullabies: Christmas in the Southwest.
A small, eclectic orchestra including harp, guitar, horns, oboe, vibraphone, and marimba promises to bring new depth and color to the choral mix, and a shimmering new sound to traditional holiday favorites.
Carols & Lullabies, Susa's spirited rendition of Spanish carols with harp, marimba and guitar
Four Songs for Women's Chorus, lush choral harmonies by Brahms, with harp and two French horns
O Magnum Mysterium, Gabrieli's, Lauridsen's and Conley's (world premiere) settings of the Latin chant
Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind;There is Sweet Music Here, Chatman's settings of poems by Shakespeare, Blake,
and Tennyson, for chorus and oboe.
