Charity Christmas Concert
The Holst Singers charity concert will be an uplifting programme of Christmas music and will include seasonal readings and audience carols. There will be something in the programme for everyone to enjoy.
The Holst Singers have been described by the BBC as "a leading chorus on an international stage". In concert, the choir is renowned for dramatic and engaging performances, described by The Times as "interactive concert going at its most revelatory".
The concert is in aid of Breathing Matters, a University College London Hospital Charity which supports research at UCL Respiratory, and this concert will specifically fund research into Bronchiectasis. This is a lung disease that most people have never heard of, yet it is not rare and affects an estimated 100,000 people in the UK of all ages, including children. Unfortunately, there is no cure for bronchiectasis, and there has been little research into the best ways to treat patients with bronchiectasis. For about half of patients, we don't even know why they have developed the bronchiectasis. Despite this, research into bronchiectasis is very under-funded, which makes improving the care of patients with bronchiectasis very difficult.
The magnificent St Pauls Church is located in bustling Covent Garden. It is known as the "Actor's Church" because of its long association with the theatre community. Its beautiful and peaceful gardens will be adorned with Christmas lights for us all to enjoy.
We are delighted that Jessica Ransom is coming to give a reading for us at this year's concert. Jessica Ransom is a British actress, born in Sheffield. Her television appearances include Series 4 and 6 of Horrible Histories and Series 5 onwards of Doc Martin as medical receptionist, Morwenna Newcross.
Tickets will be available from BPT until midnight on 10th December and then, subject to availability, tickets will be available to buy on the door from 6.45pm on the night of the concert.
