Burt Watson, Frankenmuth Credit Union, and Magnolia Entertainment presents the 2015 Freeland Blues Fest
Gates open @ 2pm Show @ 330 pm
The international blues legend Larry McCray will be headlining the event. The other acts that will be performing at the Blues Fest are; John Primer, Frank Bang and the Secret Stash, and Bay City's own Blues Mobile.
In addition, there will be a disc golf tournament. Entry fee required.
There will be the campsites available for individuals interested in camping on location as well. Fee applicable.
Larry McCray, the Arkansas born and Michigan based blues legend has been pouring his heart and soul into the blues for over 25 years. Larry was recently awarded the Orville H. Gibson Male Blues Guitarist of the Year along with the International Blues Matters' 2014 writer's poll Top Guitarist prize. In the beginning of 2015, McCray released his first album in over eight years, The Gibson Sessions.
John Primer had a four year stint playing in the Muddy Waters Band. Primer spent 14 years playing with Magic Slim & the Teardrops who are still known as the inventors of the Chicago Blues Sound. In 2009, John Primer received a Grammy nomination. He is one of the last traditional blues artists with original Mississippi roots.
Frank Bang was born in Chicago raised on all types of rock 'n roll. At the age of 21 Frank found the blues. He would go on to tour the world five times with Buddy Guy. Bang released his first solo album in 2004 and his most recent release, Double Dare, was released on May 21 of 2013.
Blues Mobile is a five piece all american blues band. This passionate experienced blues group focuses on both classics and originals with a tilt towards rock 'n roll. Lead singer Lou Ann Ervin, was recently awarded the 2014 and 2015 Bay Area Best Female Blues Vocalist.
