In the year 1970, four young musicians from the South Bay of Los Angeles, came together to create a new invigorating style of music. Originally labeled as America's answer to the progressive invasion of such English acts as "Yes" and "King Crimson", the group quickly proved it was all that and much more as its albums painted oral landscapes covering the gamut of musical styles and attracting the collaboration of such cultural icons as, Leonard Bernstein, Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and Alan Parsons. Today the band is more alive than ever. With three of the four original member in tact plus the addition of the very talented and inspiring David Lewis on keyboards, Doug Jackson on guitar, and Ken Stacey on vocals.
Mighty Mo Rodgers us a remarkably original singer/songwriter who's shaped his life experiences into a terrifically eclectic and immensely deep vision, combining soulful, gritty vocals and driving rhythms with a wholly personal panorama. Born Maurice Rogers in the steel town of East Chicago, where he studied classical piano, he had the distinct benefit of his father's nightclub and the up-close and personal influences of the blues and jazz players who performed there. Whether on paper, on record, or in conversation, it's Rodger's meaningful exploration and expression of life through music that makes the trip soul-satisfying.
