Meet the Feebles!

Before The Lord of the Rings, director Peter Jackson became famous - or infamous, rather - for Meet the Feebles, a scathing parody of The Muppet Show. When we first meet our young hero, Robert the Hedgehog, he has just joined The Feebles as a chorus singer for their live television debut, The Fabulous Feebles Variety Hour. Too bad the show's host, Harry the Hare, is afflicted with venereal disease, Wyniard, the knife-throwing alligator, is addicted to smack and suffering from Vietnam flashbacks, and the star of the show, Heidi the Hippo, has developed a binge-eating problem after being dumped by the show's producer, Bletch, who, to top it all off, moonlights as a drug pusher. Poor Robert becomes a witness to these and even more bizarre perversions before events finally escalate out of control, culminating in a machine-gun shooting spree the likes of which are seldom seen in musical comedy. Needless to say, this rare, must-see puppet extravaganza is for adults only. 90 min.
