La Folia
LA FOLIA, a concert on 18th century instruments, will fill the New Marlborough Meeting House with celebratory sound on Sunday afternoon, June 5 at 4:00 p.m. Ben Harms will be featured improvising on his own timpani and replicas of 18th century drums. Also sharing the limelight are Steven Hammer on baroque oboe and recorder, Larry Wallach at the harpsichord, and Lucy Bardo playing viola da gamba and baroque cello. The program includes music of Scarlatti, Marais, Telemann and Handel.
This concert is presented by the Berkshire Bach Society in conjunction with the New Marlborough Village Association. It is made possible, in part, by a generous grant from the New Marlborough Cultural Council. A juried show of cermaics and watercolors--Fire and Water--will also be on display in the Gallery where a reception follows the performance.
Admission to the concert is $25 for adults. Members of Berkshire Bach or the Village Association receive a $5 discount, and students and children are free. Tickets available at the door or through BrownPaperTickets to reserve in advance. Call 413-229-2785 for further information or directions. The Meeting House is located on Route 57 in New Marlborough adjacent to the Old Inn on the Green. Visit www.berkshirebach.org for more info.
