Pacific Crest Trail Film Night - Bellevue WA
Two Great Films!
Walking the West
A New Zealander and an Irishman quite their jobs, cash in their savings and walk 2626 miles from Mexico to Canada along one of the longest and most challenging foot trails in the world, the Pacific Crest Trail.
Their route takes them through some of the most spectacular scenery in North America, including California's deserts, the alpine lakes and granite peaks of the Sierras Nevada, and the massive volcanoes and temperature rainforests of the Cascade Mountains.
Walking a challenging pace of 21 miles a day for 4-1/2 months, they must cross the Canadian border before winter storms hit the Cascades. The ordeal forced on of them to quit just 60 miles before the finish. This epic adventure is an exhilarating antidote to the predictability of modern life.
National Geographic Channel - Pacific Crest Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail zigzags some 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada . It cuts through seven national Parks and 24 national forests as it travels through California, Oregon and Washington. Its a trail of ever-changing obstacles - from some of the highest mountain passes in the west to the hottest desert in the country. The two to three hundred hikers who attempt the PCT each year often find out quickly if they have what it takes for the journey ahead.
The Discussion Panel will start at 6:15 p.m. Panelists include:
Joan Napolitano (Bump) Brian Lewis (Gadget) Bring Pack (PCT- Washington) Ryan Maloney Tom Griffin (Bullfrog) Brian Lee (Not Phil) Bring Pack
This event is also being held on April 15, 2011 in Seattle.
Interstate-405 will be closed at 11:00 p.m. While this should not affect this event, it is certainly something to be aware of. Here is the official WSDOT announcement.
