Holiday Fundraising Event for Labayen Dance/SF's Winter Season with a sneak preview of four world premieres from multi-award winning choreographer Enrico Labayen that explores love, heartbreak, greed, ambition, intrigue, gender, the environment and the manufacturing of em...otions with guest artists from Dance Theatre of Harlem and The Martha Graham Company on December 18 at The Garage 975 Howard Street between 5th and 6th Street at 7:00pm
Labayen Dance SF, one of the most exciting dance companies in the Bay Area will be presenting excerpts from Enrico Labayen's new works: "Icarus at the Edge of Recession"; "Frida: Broken Column"; "En-Gulf-ed" & "Glass" and an encore performance of the critically acclaimed "Esquisses" and "Another Butterfly". Enrico Labayen seamlessly weaves story-telling, theatre, ballet, contemporary dance with layers of Asian movements, sound and visuals. Labayen embeds intimate and exposing autobiographical stories in broader political contexts, creating performance that has social resonance.
Featuring Daiane Lopes, Leda Pennell, Irene Hsiao, Karen Meyers, Jaidah terry, Victor Talledos, Never Navarro, Alyson Abriel & Ms. Diane Mateo. Guest artist David Chase, formerly of Martha Graham Dance Company and Clover Mathis, formerly of Dance Theatre of Harlem and Alvin Ailey Dance Company
