The Carol Coronis Band Celebrates St. Pat's Day & Greek Independence!
Welcome the Spring Equinox with a celebration of Greek Independence Day and St. Patrick's Day! It's no secret that the Greeks and the Irish have had the bouzouki in common since the 1960s, contributing to a rich, musical heritage that bridges the cultures of the two countries. With her cittern, a sort of mandolin-on-steroids derivative of the Greek bouzouki, Carol Coronis and her band return to rock the dance floor with zils and exotic sounds of Greece along with some fiery gems from the Emerald Isle.
Merging traditional folk genres with urban and laiko, the band--her brother Chuck Coronis on drums, Bill Zecker on bass and fiddle and Bob Halperin on guitar--will have you kicking up your heels as you experience the excitement of Greek dancing with a side trip to Ireland's folk music scene!
The blend is natural; as host of two radio shows on WUNH radio 91.3 FM, Aegean Connection and The Ceili Show, Coronis is deeply entwined with the music of both countries. Her cd, girl from thessaly reflects this with pulsing Greek traditional dance songs and a twist on an Irish jig. Check your Greek/Irish connection on the coolest dance floor in the Seacoast! 7:30pm
