THE FUTURE OF FOOD
Genetic engineering of food crops is as controversial as ever, as many large agro corporations position themselves as the answer to the world food crisis. But are they?
The Future of Food distills the complex technology and consumer issues surrounding major changes in the food system today -- genetically engineered foods, patenting, and the corporatization of food -- into terms the average person can understand. It empowers consumers to realize the consequences of their food choices on our future.
Following the film, there will be a brief period for discussion facilitated by Sam May. Sam has been involved in advocacy work to establish GMO labeling policy in Maine and New England. He serves as an advisor to several organizations doing good work to support Maine's organic farmers, including MOFGA, Maine Harvest Credit Project, and Slow Money Maine.
Snacks made by Rosemont Market's Chef Brad Messier using local, seasonal foods will be served after the discussion.
Admission is FREE. Seating is limited.
