Saratoga Springsâ own Railbird is the latest band poised to break out of the Northeast music scene onto a national stage. Their ever-evolving sound has been compared to Kate Bush, Beck, and Syd Barret. They are frequently described as a combination of 1960's psychedelia and contemporary, minimal art-rock. Bandleader/songwriter/vocalist Sarah Pedinotti (âa talented young singer/songwriter on the rise.â â" Billboard) is a natural storyteller who finds inspiration in the fiction and poetry of writers such as William Gibson, Philip K. Dick, Walt Whitman, Allen Ginsberg, and W.B. Yeats. Railbirdâs debut disc was listed as #8 in Billboardâs editorsâ picks and hailed as âa great indie band set to break out.â They have an indescribable, ethereal charm that is truly captivating.
Opener Sean Rowe grew out the Capital District music scene to sweep his hometownâs top awards, move on to major festival stages, and now to regular tours in Europe. His arresting, grizzled-yet-limber voice is achingly emotive and his lyrics are fearless explorations of the human conditionâ"sexy, scary, wry, sad and hopeful.
