Fruit Trees "101": Basic Fruit Tree Care
On Sunday, January 11, join us at Sierra Azul Nursery in Watsonville to learn the basics of fruit tree planting, irrigation, fertility, pest management, and winter pruning. This workshop will be taught by Sky DeMuro of UCSC's Alan Chadwick Garden, and Kim Mayer of Orchard Keepers (www.orchardkeepers.com].
Online registration costs: $30 for general public, $20 for Friends of the Farm & Garden members, $5 for current UCSC students. Or pay at the door (cash or check only): $40 for general public, $30 for Friends of the Farm & Garden members, $5 for current UCSC students.
Heavy rain cancels; full refunds given if rain cancels event.
Please note that a separate workshop focused on winter pruning of deciduous fruit trees (apples, pears, plums, apricots, peaches, nectarines) will take place on January 31 at the UCSC Farm. Another Fruit Trees "101" session will be offered on January 24 at the UCSC Farm.
