Politics and Prose and Sixth & I Present DAVE EGGERS
Dave Eggers broke into the literary world with his memoir A HEARTBREAKING WORK OF STAGGERING GENIUS and is beloved for his novels, which include A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING, WHAT IS THE WHAT, and THE CIRCLE, which was made into a movie starring Tom Hanks and Emma Watson in 2017. As the publisher of McSweeney's, Eggers has championed a wide array of voices, and hes done the same through his literary nonprofits 826 National and Voices of Witness. In ZEITOUN, Eggers turned to nonfiction to tell the story of an extraordinary American, and in THE MONK OF MOKHA, he does the same. His protagonist this time is Mokhtar Alkhanshali, a first-generation Yemeni-American whose plans to revitalize his homelands long-dormant coffee trade are nearly derailed by Yemen's civil war.
Eggers will be in conversation with Mokhtar Alkhanshali.
