The Monday Club of San Luis Obispo, October 6, 2014, General Meeting
The Business portion of the general meeting will commence at 11:00 a.m., followed by Luncheon at 12:00 p.m. and the Program at 12:45 p.m.
"My name has been my walk in life," the Cal Poly Women's Basketball coach said. "It's perfect." So well spoken by our October guest speaker, Faith Mimnaugh.
The name reflects the faith she has in her players, in the university where she works and in her own ability to coach a Division I basketball program. It also speaks to the values of her family and of her own rather shaky start in life. Born prematurely, she and her twin sister were named Faith and Joy; faith they would live and joy they did.
Mimnaugh is now Cal Poly's second longest tenured coach, second only to Alex Crozier's 23 years, as she heads into her 18th season. After a standout in high school, Faith played for Loyola University Chicago. After graduating, she went on to play professional basketball in the South Pacific, where after only one season she became a coach. She came back to the US in 1990 and studied for her Masters at North Carolina State. While there, she served as an assistant and then head coach. After NC State came a stint as head coach at University of Evansville. In 1996 she came to Cal Poly as an assistant coach, becoming head coach only a year later.
Luncheon cost is $17 and only members with reservations or their confirmed guests may purchase tickets. You MUST have confirmed your reservation by the Monday prior in order to attend this event.
