Erendira
Aguijon Theater's scheduled 20th anniversary season, De la pagina a las tablas (From the Page to the Stage), is a celebration and exploration of Latin American literature through theatre. Erendira, the first piece chosen to open this groundbreaking season, is inspired by Gabriel Garcia Marquez's 1978 short story, La increible y triste historia de la candida Erendira y de su abuela desalmada (The Tale of Innocent Erendira and her Heartless Grandmother). A bizarre fairy tale of an evil grandmother forcing her Cinderella-like granddaughter to sell her body, the play explores issues of family relations and abuse.
