THE SOUND OF MURDER
The Creative Place International (CPI), a non-profit cultural resources organization based in Saratoga, will present THE SOUND OF MURDER by William Fairchild, a whodunit in the fine British tradition. Directed by Tony Award winner Ronald Holgate of Saratoga, the play features a writer of popular children's stories who has a decidedly dark side. When his wife asks for a divorce, he adamantly refuses for selfish reasons. The story spirals down to a thrilling and surprising conclusion involving the wife's lover, the author's secretary, the police and a voice recorder. The final moments of this mystery will have audiences on the edge of their seats. Adult content.
THE SOUND OF MURDER cast features CPI favorites Thom Cammer, who plays the conniving author; Mary Jane Hansen is his long-suffering wife; Anny DeGange is the scheming secretary and Patrick McKenna is "the other man." Rounding out the cast are John McGuire and Tim Christiansen as the police who break the case.
Performances of THE SOUND OF MURDER will be presented in the Dee Sarno Theater at The Arts Center at 320 Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs. Opening night is Thursday August 21 at 8 pm, with subsequent performances Friday and Saturday August 22-23 at 8 pm and Sunday August 24 at 2 pm. Additional performances Thursday-Saturday August 28-30 at 8 pm and Sunday August 31 at 2 pm. Reserve tickets at 518 584-7780 or online at brownpapertickets.com, search Sound of Murder. All seats $25.
The Creative Place International (CPI) continues its tradition of sharing the proceeds of performances with several area charities. The Yaddo Garden Association, Code Blue Saratoga, Saratoga Independent School, Franklin Community Center, The National Museum of Dance School of the Arts, The Saratoga County Children's Committee and the Brave Will Foundation are this year's beneficiaries of CPI's annual charitable effort. The final performance on Sunday, August 31 at 2 pm will benefit The Creative Place International.
THE SOUND OF MURDER is the second production mounted by CPI this summer. The world premiere of a new version of PINOCCHIO inaugurated the new theatre space at the National Museum of Dance in July to sold out audiences.
The Creative Place International is pleased to announce it has concluded arrangements with Actors Equity Association (AEA) to establish CPI as a Small Professional Theatre in Saratoga Springs, NY. Under the AEA designation, CPI is developing presentations for November, 2014 and February, 2015. CPI will continue its program of workshops and classes at the National Museum of Dance School of the Arts, shows for family audiences and benefit performances for area charities.
