Join students, industry professionals, academics, and regulators at the Northwest Brownfield Regeneration Forum for a focused discussion on emerging contaminants in land and groundwater. This event will explore the latest research, regulatory developments, and practical approaches to identifying and managing contaminants such as PFAS, pesticides and cosmetics in the context of brownfield redevelopment.
Featured Talks & Speakers: Paul Nathanail (Land Quality Management Ltd / NTU) PFAS Much ado about nothing or Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble is THAT the question? A deep dive into PFAS risk, regulation, and remediation, led by the author of CIRIAs PFAS guidance (C819, 2024).
Dr Ehi Idahosa-Taylor (WRc) Emerging contaminants in everyday products understanding para-phenylenediamine (PPD) A case study on how common chemicals like PPD can become environmental pollutants, with insights from WRcs toxicology team.
Dr Daniel Niepsch (University of Bristol / UBU Environmental Ltd) Recovered road sweepings a suitable soil alternative? Exploring the potential reuse of urban waste materials in land regeneration and their environmental implications.
Gareth Leonard (REGENESIS) & Steve Jackson (Soilfix) Planning for flexibility creating robust remediation designs for real-world conditions A practical case study on remediating a former timber yard site with complex contamination using adaptive and integrated techniques.
