A Short Course: Systems Thinking, Education, and the State of the World
Join the Center for Ecoliteracy for a rare opportunity to study with Fritjof Capra, one of the world's leading systems theorists. Capra will discuss how our major global problems are interconnected and how the challenge of building sustainable communities will require both systems thinking and an ecological conception of life. Capra, the author of five international bestsellers, frequently teaches at Schumacher College, an international center for ecological studies in England.
David W. Orr will also join Capra on Aug. 15 to dialogue about how systems thinking and education for sustainable living offer solutions to our current environmental crises.
Carolie Sly, education program director for the Center for Ecoliteracy, will work with participants from Aug. 13 to 14 to facilitate application of the knowledge to their fields.
Fee includes a copy of the book Ecological Literacy: Educating Our Children for a Sustainable World, edited by Michael K. Stone and Zenobia Barlow.
This course meets on Thursday and Friday from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.
On Saturday, the course meets from 9:00 am until noon.
