EPIC DC, Defend Yourself & Whole DC proudly present a Queer Self Defense Class. Experienced instructors will teach particpants how to prevent and protect/defend themselves against assault/harrassment.
This class will include:
Prevention and awareness: things you can do to prevent or avoid an attack or abuse
Assertiveness and verbal self-defense: using words and body language to stop obnoxious or intrusive behavior and to keep a situation from escalating
Physical self-defense: techniques to end a physical attack and get away to safety
Defend Yourself works to empower people - especially women and others targeted for abuse and assault - to end violence and create a world where they can be fully themselves. Participants learn skills to help them prevent, heal from, and end violence and abuse.
All EPIC events are Q inclusive - meaning no one who is queer identified is turned away from participating at an event because of their gender identity, gender expression/presentation or sexual orienation.
In fact - we strongly encourage individuals whose sexual orientation, presentation or gender identity may put them at greater risk to attend this event.
