About The Show
It was first performed by the playwright himself with Holland Taylor at the New York Public Library, then opened in 1988 at the Long Wharf Theatre, M. Edgar Rosenblum, Executive Director; Arvin Brown, Artistic Director. Love Letters was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The play centers on two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III who began writing letters to each other in boarding school. The actors sit side by side and read the notes, letters and cards  in which over nearly 50 years, they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats  that have passed between them throughout their lives.

About The Actors
Gwen Arment and Steve Belida are Broadway actors and producers. Gwen is a producer of The Prom and Come from Away currently on Broadway. Gwen and Steve have enjoyed Brookfield as their home away from the bustle of New York City for many years and have offered to give back to Brookfield by performing Love Letters as a fundraiser for the Brookfield Library Foundation.
We are so grateful for their generosity!

About The Brookfield Library Foundation
The Brookfield Library Foundation is committed to raising funds for a new library in Brookfield. The Brookfield Library opened its 9,600 square foot library in 1975 at the current location. The building was designed to accommodate a collection of 35,000 items. Today's collection of 65,000 means that the building is bursting at the seams and can no longer meet the demand for seating, work, study and quiet space, additional technology, and community meeting space. The library hasn't been modernized, or expanded in 46 years despite significant increases in the Towns population and library use. Its time to invest in a new library.
