Moving Metal, the Art of Raising
Join talented and prolific Portland based holloware artist, Greg Wilbur, for a two-day workshop in conjunction with SMG's annual symposium. Using metal hammers and stakes, transform a 6" flat sheet of copper into a seamless bowl/vessel. Open to all levels of student experience. Greg is a hands-on teacher who will stress efficiency and safety. Some hand strength required. Other objects may be made as well for more advanced students. There will be some patina exploration. In addition, Greg will bring tool steel hammers and stakes of his own design that will be for sale. This workshop will be held at Pratt Fine Arts Center, one of the best hollowware studios in the city. For more details contact workshops@seattlemetalsguild.org.
