Felipe Galganni: FORGET ABOUT ME
Brazilian tap dance artist Felipe Galganni is excited to present his new evening-length set, FORGET ABOUT ME, at Pangea NYC. This dramatized exploration is a performative reflection on the thoughts, dreams, irritations, and reactions to the artists every day life. Incorporating imagery, props, and all manner of the unexpected, Felipe will address your pre-conceived notions about tap dance and the identity of a foreign artist in NYC through a seamless, yet abrasive, exploratory set.

Felipe Galganni - tap dancer, teacher, and choreographer - is known for his unique style and versatility in blending American tap dance with his Brazilian roots. He is currently a faculty member at Steps on Broadway, Joffrey Ballet School, Broadway Dance Center, and the American Tap Dance Foundation where he is also an artist in residency. Felipe has danced with renowned companies such as the New American Tap Dance Orchestra and Dorrance Dance in addition to creating his own work with Felipe Galganni & Company. In 2017, the company premiered TAP&TOM, a tribute show to the music of the Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. The concert was then presented at Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out, and at the 14th Street Y.   In 2018, Felipe received the Machado de Assis Medal for disseminating the Brazilian culture in the USA, and in 2019 had the honor of performing with the Duke Ellington center band at Birdland. Most recently, he premiered his solo show Felipe 101 as part of the PANGEA Jazz Festival, and is now preparing to perform with Nilson's Matta Brazilian Voyage at Dizzy's club in January of 2020 at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

"(...) All My Trials, choreographed and performed by Felipe Galganni was an emotional number. You could definitely feel the dancer's heavy load in life in the room. Galganni has such clean and crisp sounds."
 Broadway World by Caryn Cooper

"In Fuga, Felipe Galganni juxtaposed the precision of tap with the curvaceousness of capoeira, the Brazilian martial art. Their musicality was contagious."
New York Times by Siobhan Burke

"(...) One of Jobims more curious songs is Waters of March", the tall, long-legged Galganni had a photo of Jobim on a table and put on a hat similar to what Jobim wore and masterfully sang and danced to the song."
