Dear Friends,

With Washington in turmoil and large parts of the world engulfed in conflict, it's good to know that some events remain constant.

On Sunday, October 27th, we are convening the 17th Annual Community Multifaith Summit, to bring diverse spiritual people together to engage with one another, learn from one another and plan ways to improve our communities.

The theme for this year's gathering is "Introducing the Platinum Rule: The Key to Building Community." The Golden Rule assumes that we know how others want to be treated, but the Platinum Rule encourages us to go further to learn about and try to treat others the way they want to be treated. It provides an incentive to open ourselves to better communication and to building relationships of trust--which is precisely the antidote for so much of our world's ills.

Our program will feature a panel including Fr. Treacy, Imam Rahman and Swami Baskarananda, but the bulk of the afternoon will be devoted to conversation and relationship-building.
