JITNEY by August Wilson
Cleod Nine Productions / Triune C. P. Corp and Big Dawg Productions proudly announce their upcoming co-production of August Wilsons Jitney.
The 8th play in August Wilsons Pittsburgh Cycle, Jitney tells the story of a group of black men in 1970, who are illegal and unlicensed taxi drivers, as well as their passengers in the Hill district, a place where white taxi drivers refuse to go. Jitney was the winner of the 2017 Tony Award for Best Play Revival, and the 2000-2001 New York Drama Critics Award for Best New Play and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off Broadway Play. "Explosive... Crackles with theatrical energy." - New York Daily News "Comic, soulful and immensely moving." - Time Out "A transport of delight! So vividly written ... it keeps you steadily amused, concerned and moved." - New York Magazine
