Michael Dominguez is a 61 year-old former championship boxer who won the 1981 Golden Glove 132-lb Open Championship and was a member of the USA boxing team with Gold medalist Mark Breland. He went through his entire life never learning how to read or write, until he embarks on the struggle to do so now. The film features Gold medalist, Mark Breland, and Dominguezs sister, singer/songwriter Brenda K Starr, as well as Golden glove Trainer, Willie Dunne.
