Its easy to overlook people who have influenced your day to day life, sometimes in profound ways, with their inventions and innovations, especially when those inventors and innovators were Black. From ice cream to fish sticks to vegetarian burritos, local inventor Frederick Jones changed all our lives with his work designing and improving refrigeration units. A founder of Thermo King, Jones held 60 patents; only 40 dealt with refrigeration.
Inventor, author, and professor, Fred Amram, will talk about Frederick Jones and other African American inventors in conjunction with our Inventions and Innovations exhibition. Dr. Amram literally wrote the book on the subject and has a wealth of information to share.
