In the lead roles, Austria's promising opera talent Kristiane Kaiser and Jean-François Borras, a French young tenor, offer brilliant performances. Verdi's tale of masked revelry, family strife, blighted love, and selfless sacrifice weaves an amazing range of emotions and moods into a nearly perfect dramatic confection. The memorable score positively glows with poignant preludes, inspired ensembles, and marvelously crafted duets. La Traviata is an irresistible classic.
