Enjoy culinary treats as local scientists offer their thought-provoking insight about threats to our food supply and public health through engaging mini lectures.  See what you learned when you cap off the evening by competing for free planetarium passes in our live, online game!

Four different scientists will talk about their interests, passion or current research through the lens of the intriguing relationships between nutrition, human health, and the environment.  The audience will be divided into four groups of 30 people each, and will rotate through each scientists 15-20 minute talk. Unique appetizers will be available for participants during each talk.

Stigma to Staple: Creepy, Crawly Protein Sources
Speaker: Stacy Byrd, Fernbank Science Center
Topic: the nutritional & environmental benefits behind the increasingly popular trend of integrating more insects into our diet.

Food, Choice, and the Environment: A Delicate Entanglement
Speaker: Maria Navarro, Ph. D., University of Georgia
Topic: threats to the global food supply, and impacts on our environment, society, and well-being of different food choices & policies.

Nutritious is Delicious
Speaker: Chef Asata Reid, local chef, teacher, and entrepreneur
Topic: how to make the nutritious easily delicious, and the physiological effects of a poor diet. And, yes, she will get you to eat your vegetables!

Botanical Remedies and Medicines Rooted in Science
Speaker: François Chassagne, Pharm.D., Ph. D., Emory University
Topic: the science behind medicinal remedies, and surprising new sources for antibiotics.
