ARClight Rep Presents: As You Like It at Altarena
ARCLight Repertory Theatre in cooperation with the Altarena Playhouse presents a new staging of Shakespeare's popular comedy about love, mistaken identity, the civilizing effects of nature, and the nature of civilization. Our production is set in France, 1789-- prior to the revolution, in order to explore the ideas of natural law vs. societal laws, social class, gender identity, male/female relationships and freedom vs. slavery as embodied in the French Revolutionary ideals: liberty, equality and fraternity. This production will feature music/dance/costumes from the period as well.
