This workshop is aimed at educators working with children between the ages of 5-12 years. Fiona will facilitate a discussion-based workshop where educators will learn new skills on how to incorporate cultural awareness in to their every day practices with children.
Calgary Immigrant Women's Association (CIWA) has over 30 years of experience in supporting immigrant families through their Cross Cultural Parenting Program.
Fiona Hayes is the Coordinator of CIWA's Cross Cultural Parenting Program. A trained English as a Second Language instructor, she has worked in Immigrant Services for over 10 years, assisting immigrants in her roles as ESL Teacher, Instructor in Employment Training, Career Counselor and Program Administrator. Most recently she has been involved in designing materials and training for immigrant families with children with disabilities, in partnership with Disability Services and Mosaic Refugee Health Clinic.
