Hearth Cooking: A Kitchen Series
Join Grace Hearth for one of our four cooking classes/dinner parties this Spring or Summer! We recently started reading Michael Pollan's new book, 'Cooked' and we've been inspired to share our love of cooking with a wider audience.
In his book, Pollan "argues the importance of making your own food." He says, "...we live in a very mediated life right now. We spend our lives in front of screens, and cooking is one of the best antidotes. And it's a democratic pleasure all of us can do it ... This is a book about transformations, and I thought it was all about transformations of nature, but in the end it became a transformation of me, too."
Each class, inspired by portions of Pollan's book, will include kitchen instruction and hands-on cooking for all class members followed by a shared seasonal (and delicious!)multi-course dinner.
There will be four classes, in total. Sign up for just one or all four...we will cook new things and cover new material in each class! Topics will be: FIRE, WATER, EARTH and AIR.
Sign-ups for June and July classes will open later this week!
-Monday May 27th: FIRE *Pan-Fried Chicken or Tempeh with Blueberry Chipotle BBQ Sauce *Slow n' Low Collard Greens *Seared Spring Vegetable Hash *Southern Cornmeal Griddlecakes *Cast Iron Apricot Upside Down Cake
