SARATOGA CHIPS
Presented by The Creative Place International (CPI), SARATOGA CHIPS is a new play with music specifically commissioned for the Saratoga 150 Celebration, marking the 150th anniversary of the first races--in 1863--at Saratoga Race Course, the nation's oldest sports venue.
Last Summer, CPI cooked up AMERICAN SOUP for delighted audiences. This year, our SARATOGA CHIPS celebrates the Saratoga experience in the late 19th Century when water, turf, air and fire combined with some smoking hot oil--and the almighty dollar--made a story as old as anyone can remember, with a few new inventions along the way.
The fundamental constituents of the universe hold sway in SARATOGA CHIPS, but a few man-made elements like currency and crime, celebrity and scandal, reign supreme. From the gambling dens to the springs, from the piazzas of the grand hotels to the Graveyard of Favorites, see what happens when historical characters collide in the town you thought you knew.
Among those you'll meet in SARATOGA CHIPS: Commodore Vanderbilt, John Morrissey, Mark Twain, U.S. Grant, Madame Jumel and Carlotta Myers, aeronaut.
SARATOGA CHIPS is family friendly entertainment with vintage music from the last half of the 19th Century.
Benefit performances are planned for St. Clement's Church Education Program, Maple Avenue Middle School Musical Club, Shelters of Saratoga and others soon to be announced.
