Have you ever wished you could change places with someone else?
The Prince and the Pauper is the story of two young boys who are identical in appearance: Tom Canty, a pauper who lives with his abusive father in Offal Court off Pudding Lane in London, and Prince Edward, the son of King Henry VIII. The two boys meet when Tom sneaks into the palace garden, and they exchange clothes. When the guards discover them, the pauper is thrown out of the palace, and each boys ends up trapped in the others world. From the splendor of the palace to the brutality of lower class London, from a prison to a coronation, the result is the adventure of two lifetimes.
This play is based on the classic novel by American author and master storyteller Mark Twain, best known for The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This dramatic version was adapted by Anne Coulter Martens.
