The Singers: Shadows, Tears and Light
Season 2018-19 concerts
SHADOWS, TEARS, & LIGHT October 6 & 7, 2018: The Singers begin the season with two striking works David Langs little match girl passion, winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize in Music. This stark setting of Hans Christian Andersens lonely tale combines with texts from Picanders libretto for Bachs Saint Matthew Passion to highlight the suffering and lonliness of the young child. Morten Lauridsens Lux Aeterna, performed with chamber orchestra, is a soaring reflection on the light in times of darkness.
