Share with us in an intimate evening of acoustic music, poetry, storytelling from mother son Duo Eli Lakes and Liza Garza. Curated by Andrea YAYA Porras from Movimiento Molcajete.
This is a fundraiser for the launching of artist run not for profit Ma Series Arts.
Emmy Award-nominated Liza Garza is a poet, vocalist and songwriter. Infusing the cultural soul of Mexican folk tunes in modern ballads with the intricacy of Hip Hop rhyme schemes, she bridges the ancestral with the modern. With perfomances that include The Lincoln Center, The Apollo, the National Association of Latino Arts & Culture, HBO Def Poetry Jam and numerous stages world wide, diverse people are finding a home in her voice.
Eli Lakes Is a musician, producer, and art activist. Raised and rooted in culture and purpose he has pursued his passion from an early age. Eli began experimenting with his voice and several instruments and due to his self driven work ethic got on the road as his mother's: Liza Garzas, official guitarist and backup vocalist at the age of 15. He has joined her at The Happy Feelings Concert at the Flint Institute of Arts, The Clear Creek Festival (Berea KY), Taking it the Streets Festival (Chicago) and numerous Universities. His experience and inherent wisdom radiates far and wide.
