Ferocious Intimacy-San Diego
Super thrilled to host Coach Basin and Leece Hillegas!!! They are coming down from Berkeley to bring more ferocious intimacy into YOUR life!!

Ferocious Intimacy creates a safe container in which every part of your animal nature is welcomed...the wild, fierce parts and the fragile, tender parts.  Everything about you has room to be accepted, expressed and loved in our shared vulnerable yearning for intimate human connection.

This workshop is a somatic exploration of your life patterns.  Using movement-based inquiry, we will spend time getting "out of your head" so that you can see better how you perceive the world inside your head.   We all have fierce energies that arise within us as well as the deep need to be understood and loved by others.  How can we use these energies as a way of establishing better connections with people rather than driving them away?

Do you dare to stretch into unfamiliar parts of yourself?   Learn what it feels like to be bigger than usual, so that you can call on those parts of yourself when you need them.

The Ferocious Intimacy day is like a mashup of partner dance, Contact Improv, Judo, and Tantra.  The underlying idea is that we all have unexpressed passions, urges and feelings that society wants us to keep in a little box on the shelf.  Yet these wild urges and tender yearnings course through our veins bursting to move us.  The workshop is structured to create a safe enough space to stretch out the domain of "normal" to include more playfulness, more exuberance, more rowdiness, more connection, more eye contact, more holding and being held than we normally permit ourselves.

The intention of both Friday night's preview and Saturday's workshop is to somatically evoke some of our less conscious patterning, and provide new ways of approaching habituated situations. It can be both uncomfortable and liberating. How do you take a stand for yourself? How do you react when you are feeling hemmed in? How do you trust another with your well being? These and many other types of situations come up, and get a chance to be recognized and revised.

If you resonate with any of the following
Stand up for yourself
Be vulnerably present
Show up in your life
Interact with exuberance
Inhabit your own nature
Connect tenderly with others
Express yourself powerfully
Take risks
Live passionately

This is the place to be!!!

There are countless reasons why we might shut down our own brilliance.  On the one hand, society discourages us from growling with animal passion, asserting ourselves vigorously, or fiercely insisting on our boundaries or our preferences.  On the other hand, we seldom have the opportunity to tenderly hold other people with nourishing human contact, or to be held by others in our vulnerability and to be cherished despite our feelings of brokenness.

Ferocity as a Path Toward Tenderness
We must feel safe in order to be vulnerably intimate, and a part of that safety is being confident in our own ability to say "no" and take a stand for our boundaries. We all have these feelings of ferocity and tenderness. In this workshop you will get to actually inhabit these and many other human energies.  Push people around, bump into others, get rowdy, get gentle, get sweet.  There's room for all of you here.

Let Coach Basin push you a bit into pushing others a bit.  Stretch into unfamiliar parts of yourself.  Learn what it feels like to be bigger than usual, so that you can call on those parts of yourself when you need them.

What is Primal Improv?
Primal lmprov is a dance form that evolved from Contact Improv, but layers in the vigorous intensity of Judo or wrestling with the passion of Tango and the tenderness of Tantra.  This workshop drills some of the fundamentals of Primal Improv as a means to connect with others outside of our normal rules about what is "normal."

Love Donation $69

The workshop is valued at $69, but if that fee prohibits you from attending then we have some pay what works for you "spots". Work trade arrangements are also possible for further fee reduction.  These fee accommodations are so that no one that wants to attend should hold themselves back. After all, this is a workshop about showing up!

About your facilitators:
Coach Basin is a playful taskmaster, supporting people to feel more alive and satisfied in their lives. In addition to his private practice, he has created the Ferocious Intimacy workshops from the fabric of his own life: dancer, DJ, Judo black belt, high school wrestling coach, nonprofit executive, and nurturing father of four. Coach Basin has been a teacher and group leader for his entire adult life, including co-founding an alternative elementary school and over 30 years of living in intentional community.

Basin says: "My deep joy is to watch humans grow into themselves. That beauty is like watching a flower opening to the warmth of the sun. I can help you strengthen your roots so that you can drink up the nourishment surrounding you. You can flourish."

Leece Hillegas has been a principal co-creator of Primal Improvisation over the course of her nine year relationship with Coach Basin. Her love of attuned dancing and expressive movement with a partner arise from the influence of modern dance as a child and her enthusiasm for rowdy physical play. For her entire adult life she has used movement and dance as a form of emotional release as well as a means for connecting with others. Leece is happy to be sharing that experience through leading workshops that build intimacy.
