Gay City Arts presents: Hijx de su Madre by Ale Abreu, Norma Alicia Pino, and Fabian Romero
Mutaciones, Cruzadas, Desvios, Relajos, Desmadres, Metamorphosis y Time Travel Along Las Fronteras del Ser.
A multimedia/multimedium experimental play that crosses back and forth between the borders of performance and ritual, between ceremony and storytelling, and between the past/present/future. Hijx de Su Madre is an intergenerational Afro-Indigenous Two-Spirit art collaborative that explores the fluid landscape of bodies, borders, y ser. Together they expose the legacies and conjure the futures of indigeneity, land, language, ancestry, gender, spirit, sexuality, desire, bodies, borders, technologies, sickness, and healing. They name the fluid in between places we inhabit, as real.
The show will primarily be in English, there will be short pieces in Spanish, Purepecha, Lenca, Yoruba, and Spanglish
