All cheese starts with milk. After that, the possibilities are endless! Here in Massachusetts, our artisans produce more than 100 different cheeses with cows, goats and sheeps milk that changes with the day and with the season. Overwhelming, at first, but fear not!
Cheese Guild Executive Director and Cheesemonger Beth Falk will guide you through the basic families of cheesemaking style with tastes of seven different Massachusetts artisan cheeses. You'll learn about the history of cheese in the Commonwealth (the birthplace of cheese in America!), about milk and why it matters, why "artisan" cheese is different from the packaged cheese you find on large store shelves, and about pairings and plating ideas for everything you taste.
We'll finish the class with suggestions for cheese and spirits pairings to warm up cold winter evenings. Bully Boy's distillery and tasting room space provide the perfect backdrop for our culinary exploration - stay and enjoy the cocktail menu after class!
